MUSEUM
KKBE’s Museum preserves and showcases the history of the congregation and its members. Among the items on display are an original painting of the interior of the 1792 synagogue by Solomon N. Carvalho, photographs and documents of members and the organizations which they established, and prayer books used by members dating from 1766.
The museum is listed on Charleston’s Museum Mile. It is open to visitors during normal tour hours. Please check the KKBE calendar for more information, or call the KKBE office at 843-723-1090.
For safekeeping, the majority of KKBE’s archives have been placed in the Jewish Heritage Collection, housed within The Marlene and Nathan Addlestone Library at the College of Charleston, located at the corner of Calhoun and Coming Streets. Inquiries may be addressed to JHC Coordinator Max Daniel at danielme1@cofc.edu.
